Here at Jackpot Capital Online Casino, we like to salute “important” days in a calendar month. While we run promotions almost every day of every month, we are talking here about “special” and unique days that people recognize.

While you are spinning for a casino jackpot, we would like you to think about these November days. They will no doubt be hits on social media platforms! We will give you a small head start on what to post on your favorite social media platform!

These are some of the special days that Glamma has decided to post on her social media this November:

Cheerleading Has Come a Very Long Way Since 1898

A young man named Johnny Campbell led the cheers at a game at the University of Minnesota in 1898 and that began a massive movement to cheerleading squads for every school small or large.

Johnny Campbell did not lead the first cheers. These were likely said in prehistoric times as fellow tribesmen cheered on the strongest tribesman of all as he wrestled a bear which would feed and clothe many people in the tribe. Those cheers were probably grunts!

This is not to say that Johnny Campbell’s cheer was a great deal more than a grunt. Cheers at college sporting events dates back to the 1860’s but they were spontaneous grunts that emanated from the stands. Johnny Campbell jumped onto the sidelines from his seat and exhorted the crowd thus:

Rah! Rah! Rah!
Skiumah!
Hoo-rah,
Hoo-rah.
Varsity, Varsity, Varsity.
Minnesota! (with a heavy emphasis on the ta)

More than a 19th century grunt? Wethinks not!

Cheerleading Has its Own Tournaments

Cheerleading has evolved into just “cheer”. Tus, the cheer team will hold tryouts. Or the cheer team will practice on Wednesday.

Here are a few other things cheerleading in 2023 is all about:

  1. Skimpy costumes.
  2. Strong men holding up young women wearing skimpy uniforms.
  3. There is a thing called Christian Cheerleading which combines religious faith with the athleticism that is the hallmark of modern cheerleading.
  4. Modern professional sports teams all have a cheerleading squad. Often the cheerleading squad for the upcoming season is formally introduced at the home opener and is featured on YouTube.
  5. The New Orleans saints spell their cheerleading team the cheer krewe. We kid you not!

Gottlieb Daimler or Daimler Gottlieb?

We are unfamiliar with either of these names so we have to pause here to look it up. Gottlieb Daimler it is. Mr. Daimler was a German mechanical engineer who “invented” the first motorcycle which he unveiled on November 9, 1886.

He did not call it a motorcycle at the time as it as a horse-drawn carriage that had been fitted with a small engine.

By the way, Gottlieb Daimler was also instrumental in developing the first automobile but it was not unveiled in November!

Also by the way, the name Gottlieb as a first name was very popular in Germany in the 18th and 19th centuries during the heyday of the Pietist Movement. The name is a literal translation to German from the Greek Theopholis (theo is God and philos is Lover of).

November 16 is UNESCO Day

UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. It was created in November 1945, just a few months after World War II ended.

UNESCO has become somewhat controversial as the United States and Israel left the organization in 2017. Since social media will be filled with hosannas for UNESCO come November 16, we will focus here on the many accomplishments of the organization.

UNESCO Leads Global Efforts to Improve Education

In UNESCO'S words, education transforms lives. UNESCO prioritizes raising literacy and general educational levels in poor countries, furthering the equalization of educational opportunities for girls and women, ending school violence, and empowering teachers and other educators.

UNESCO Publishes Histories

These are regional histories by native historians and researchers that seek to reduce misunderstandings and mistaken beliefs between and among people living through a fast-changing world that they may be poorly equipped to deal with.

The books usually cover areas that are less often written about such as Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Central Asia.

Social Media Will Note Many Other Days in November

There are also many tongue-in-cheek days in November (and every month) - too many to list.

Here are a few such days which really gave us a chuckle:
